Andrew McCabe Confirms Donald Trump is Totes Nuts and A Threat to America

Former Acting Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, told CBS 60 Minutes in an interview scheduled to air on Sunday, February 17, that he ordered the obstruction of justice probe against Donald Trump after Trump fired Director James Comey of the FBI, and McCabe, Comey’s deputy at the time and a career FBI official, became acting director of the agency. The reason why McCabe did so is even more of a bombshell: he was afraid that Trump and his political appointees would try to shut down the ongoing probe into Trump’s involvement of Russian stealing of the 2016 election.

In the eight days between the firing of Comey and the appointment of Bob Mueller as Special Counsel to investigate Russian meddling, McCabe wanted to make sure that Trump could not simply shut down the investigation without a paper trail.

"I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground, in an indelible fashion," McCabe tells Pelley in the [60 Minutes] interview. "That were I removed quickly, or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace." […]

"I wanted to make sure that our case was on solid ground and if somebody came in behind me and closed it and tried to walk away from it, they would not be able to do that without creating a record of why they made that decision," McCabe said.

Were the revelations to be stopped at this, the news would be terrifying enough (though hardly surprising). It does not.

McCabe also confirmed that there was serious discussions of using the 25th amendment to declare Trump incapacitated by agreement of Mike Pence as Vice President a majority of the cabinet. And… McCabe says that despite the claims of the DOJ, the offer Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein made to wear a wire in meetings with Trump was serious, not sarcastic. It was so serious, McCabe claims, that he took it to FBI lawyers.

This makes sense. If the FBI was investigating Trump for obstruction of justice in the Russia probe, and they were investigating him for doing so by manipulating DOJ personnel and quashing the Russia probe itself, it makes sense that they would want to know what he was saying to key personnel. The person with the closest proximity both to the Russia investigation and the Oval Office would have been Rod Rosenstein, who was overseeing the investigation not just as Deputy Attorney General but as Acting Attorney General, as then-Attorney General Sessions had recused himself from Russia matters.

Donald Trump is a rogue usurper who obtained the presidency with the help of - and cooperation and coordination of - a foreign adversary, one that, incidentally, was also the major financier of the Trump organization. He fired the director of the FBI for investigating Russian meddling and said so publicly both to the American media and to the Russian ambassador. He fired the Attorney General who was recused from the case and installed an acting AG who disregarded ethics advice and took over oversight of the investigation. He is about to install a permanent AG who may well do the same thing. He continues to belittle, obstruct and threaten the Russia investigations by Mueller and by Congressional committees.

Donald Trump is a threat to the security and safety of American democracy, and therefore of the sovereignty of the American people. Donald Trump is a threat to America.
