Give Your Time for the Holidays

Apologies for the slight absence - I have been doing some traveling. But I’m now back full time!

But as we all come away from celebrating another holiday season, I think it’s a good time to reflect on what we give. Not just material giving, but meaningful giving. What do we give? What do we receive?

The smallest gifts are often the most meaningful. And the most important gift that I can think of is time. Whether that time is for a relative you only see once a year, a friend who you haven’t got to say ‘thank you’ to, a neighbor who spends their time more lonely than you, or a stranger who is kind to you, time is the one gift that we don’t give enough these days. In the presence of those important to us, we’re lost on small screens. We’re consumed with creating ‘insta moments’ even as moments in real life pass us by.

So this holiday season, give your time. To your friends, to your family, to a stranger. Give your time as a volunteer to a worthy charity, to cause you believe in, to help those who need it most.

Happy holidays!
